Mike and David met over tea in 2011, just before Mike started an assignment in Taiwan. What should’ve been a ~30 minute coffee turned into a couple of hours, a relationship maintained across an ocean, and years of fun together.
David is a native Austinite who loves making video games, exploring Austin's restaurants, and cheering on his Longhorns.
Mike calls Austin his adopted home, by way of Taipei. A geek at heart, Mike's usually taking apart or building one of several side projects. When he's not tinkering, he's either running on a trail, or trying out a new recipe.
We agreed to a short after-work coffee date that turned into an evening of chatting over tea.
Our first official date was a viewing of Trollhunter, a foreign-language sci-fi mockumentary. It was surprisingly fun.
Mike moved to Taiwan for a two-year assignment. We spoke every day while apart, and got to travel together to Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
After Mike returned from Taiwan, we moved into a new home - a high-rise condo off of Rainey Street.
After a night out celebrating our six year anniversary, David suggested that we should get married. I agreed. ;-)
Our wedding takes place in downtown Austin, near Zilker Park. We've secured a room block with Aloft Austin Downtown, but there are plenty of other great hotels in Austin if you would prefer. We've provided a sampling below.
We are very grateful to have everything we need for our home together. So in lieu of traditional gifts, if you should feel so moved, please consider contributing to our honeymoon registry.
